| Overview Alibaba Travels is seeking a Commercial Trainee to support the Commercial team in sourcing and onboarding travel services and suppliers across domestic and international destinations. This is a learning-focused opportunity to gain hands-on experience in supplier research, product setup, and end-to-end sourcing within a fast-growing online travel environment. Working closely with the Product, Operations, Sales, and Finance teams, the Commercial Trainee will help identify sellable services, evaluate suppliers, and ensure accurate, high-quality product listings on the platform. At the end of the traineeship, the stronger performer may be offered a position as a VAS Supply Specialist. Responsibilities Identify sellable services and items across domestic and international destinations. Research and identify potential suppliers. Establish initial contact with suppliers to obtain pricing, cooperation terms, and service information. Compare suppliers based on price, quality, service coverage, and cancellation terms. Collect and complete the information required to define and list products on the website. Prepare descriptions, images, prices, policies, and other details for each service. Review orders and coordinate with suppliers to ensure fulfillment. Support service quality control and review customer feedback. Prepare reports on supply status and availability. Collaborate with the Product, Operations, Sales, and Finance teams. Requirements Student or recent graduate in Management, Business, Tourism, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Ability to search for, gather, and organize information, with strong attention to detail in recording prices, terms, and service details. Good interpersonal skills and an interest in communicating with and following up with suppliers. Strong follow-up skills and the ability to move several topics forward simultaneously. Good command of Excel or Google Sheets, and the ability to prepare simple, clear reports. Sense of responsibility, discipline, and an eagerness to learn. Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with different units. Curiosity and an interest in discovering new opportunities, with adaptability in a fast-developing environment. Flexibility with working hours (occasional on-call availability outside regular hours may be required). Familiarity with English is an advantage. Experience in sales, support, commercial/procurement, or customer relations is a plus. Familiarity with travel booking platforms and tourism services, or a basic understanding of pricing, profit margin, and sales analysis, is a plus. A track record of student activities or team projects, or the ability to create or edit content, is a plus. |
