Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and enhancing enterprise network security controls across the organization’s infrastructure. The role focuses on securing critical services and applications through effective management of Web Application Firewall (WAF), Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), and network security technologies while ensuring alignment with enterprise security standards and best practices.
The position requires strong technical expertise in network security architecture, secure traffic inspection, application-layer protection, routing and switching, and virtualization-aware security frameworks. The specialist is also expected to contribute to security hardening, incident troubleshooting, policy optimization, and continuous improvement of the organization’s cybersecurity posture.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade network security solutions including WAF and Firewall platforms.
Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot security policies for Layer 3–Layer 7 traffic inspection and protection.
Analyze, mitigate, and respond to web application threats based on OWASP standards and modern attack vectors.
Perform WAF tuning, false-positive analysis, signature management, and security policy optimization.
Participate in secure network architecture design and segmentation strategies for enterprise environments.
Support implementation and operational management of micro-segmentation and security controls within VMware NSX environments.
Contribute to SDN and SD-WAN architecture, deployment, troubleshooting, and operational support.
Maintain understanding and operational knowledge of Overlay and Underlay network architectures and related traffic engineering concepts.
Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and SOC teams to ensure secure service delivery and incident resolution.
Design and review secure connectivity solutions based on enterprise routing and switching principles at CCNP-level knowledge.
Conduct security assessments, configuration reviews, and hardening activities for network security devices and services.
Prepare technical documentation, operational procedures, and architecture diagrams related to network security implementations.
Monitor security events, investigate anomalies, and support containment and remediation activities when required.
Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, standards, and best practices.
Participate in troubleshooting complex network and security incidents in production environments.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to network security operations, automation, and resilience.
Stay updated with emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and enterprise security technologies.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum academic and professional qualifications: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in Network security
Strong knowledge of Enterprise Routing & Switching at CCNP level.
Hands-on experience with VMware NSX deployment, administration, and troubleshooting.
Solid understanding of Overlay and Underlay network architectures and related technologies.
Strong operational experience with enterprise Firewall platforms including: Fortinet FortiGate, Palo Alto Networks, Sophos Firewall, Cisco Firepower (FTD)
Hands-on experience with Web Application Firewall (WAF) technologies including: F5 Advanced WAF / ASM / LTM, Fortinet FortiWeb
Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10, web application security threats, and Layer 7 protection mechanisms.
Knowledge of network security concepts aligned with CCNP Security level.
Hands-on experience with Fortinet Secure SD-WAN (FortiSD-WAN).
Familiarity with Cisco SD-WAN architecture, deployment, and troubleshooting.
Ability to design and implement secure enterprise network architectures and segmentation strategies.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in complex enterprise network and security environments.
Experience working with enterprise-grade datacenter and virtualization environments.
Ability to prepare technical documentation, operational procedures, and security design documents.
Strong team collaboration with development, operations, and security teams
Skilled in technical documentation, internal training, and effective communication
