We are looking for a highly pragmatic Process Automation Engineer to identify manual, repetitive, and error-prone operational processes and transform them into reliable, maintainable automations using scripts, APIs, and workflow tools.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and data, and is responsible for building lightweight but robust automations that save time, reduce human error, and increase operational scalability.
The ideal candidate is a strong Python-first problem solver who understands real-world business processes and can design end-to-end automations with logging, monitoring, and clear ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Process Discovery & Design
Identify and document manual workflows across teams (ops, support, finance, data, product, etc.)
Analyse bottlenecks, error sources, and automation opportunities
Design scalable automation solutions with clear inputs, outputs, and failure handling
Prioritize automations based on ROI (time saved, error reduction, cost impact)
Automation Development
Build scripts and automations using Python (preferred) or Node.js
Integrate internal and external systems via REST APIs, webhooks, and file pipelines
Develop workflow automations using tools such as n8n, Zapier, Make, or Power Automate
Implement scheduled jobs, event-driven flows, and background workers
Build lightweight bots for reporting, alerts, data sync, and operational tasks
Reliability & Maintainability
Implement logging, retries, idempotency, and error handling
Add monitoring and alerting for critical automations
Write clear documentation and runbooks
Ensure automations are maintainable by other engineers
Version control and deployment via Git and CI/CD where relevant
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with operations, support, finance, and product teams
Translate business needs into technical automation solutions
Provide quick automation prototypes and iterate fast
Educate teams on automation opportunities and best practices
Required Skills
Core Technical
Strong scripting skills in Python (must-have)
Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks
Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)
Experience with CSV/Excel/Google Sheets automation
Solid understanding of Linux environments and CLI
Experience with job scheduling (cron or similar)
Automation Tools
Experience with at least one:
n8n
Zapier
Make (Integromat)
Power Automate
Engineering Practices
Git version control
Structured logging and debugging
Writing maintainable, production-ready scripts
Basic testing and validation
Nice to Have
Docker
CI/CD pipelines
Message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
RPA tools (Playwright, Selenium) for non-API systems
Experience automating business operations at scale
Experience in e-commerce, fintech, or logistics environments
